Principal's Corner

Hello Parents and Community,

Thank you for a great HOCO week! It was great seeing so many alumni join us at our pep rally and game, and so many of staff and students participate in the dress up days. Thank you to all of our First Responders who were able to be recognized before the game. We are grateful for all they do in protecting and serving our community!

Congratulations to our Homecoming Court and a special congratulations to our Homecoming King and Queen, Cooper Corley and Ava Street! Thank you to everyone at the game that worked with us through the technical difficulties. Huge thank you to Ms. Carrico and student council for all of their hard work in organizing all the different Homecoming festivities from the dress up themes, to shirts, to the pep rally, HOCO dance, and finally to the Homecoming Court. Thank you Ms. Carrico!

This week will be a little less hectic than last week. We have several athletic teams off campus, RSB3 will be performing at the Ranchview Festival, and the LBVB team will be playing at home this week. The first 9 week grading period ends on October 8th. Please remind your students to turn in missing assignments and to get in for tutoring if they need help. Our teachers offer multiple tutoring opportunities throughout the week, so please feel free to reach out to your student's teacher for information and help. We will also be hosting parent-teacher conferences on October 19th. More information will be coming out on that soon!

We will have a fire drill this week.

With October starting, we will have a fire drill and a SECURE drill during the month.

Standard Response Review-LOCKDOWN

The second protocol explained for the 2026-2027 school year is a campus Lockdown. A Lockdown is typically activated via the CrisisGo app or announced over the intercom system to alert students and staff members of an imminent threat to safety happening inside or directed at the school.

During a Lockdown, protocol demands locking individual classroom doors, offices and other securable areas, moving students and staff to a out of line of sight of the door and corridor windows and having room occupants maintain silence. Students and staff who are outside of classrooms when a Lockdown is announced, should get into the first available classroom with a teacher or a room that can be secured. First responders or school administrators will open the door and release students and staff to a hold protocol or return to class.

Brew Crew

The Brew Crew Store is open for business! We will be open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. You can stop by the Brew Crew Store to fill out an order form, or you can order straight from the website. The location is across the hall from room 100. Look for the BREW CREW sign

Perfect Attendance Winners

Every week, Graham High School will be randomly selecting students who had perfect attendance from the prior week. They will be awarded with a coupon from our local Whataburger, Sonic, or Dairy Queen. Thank you to these local businesses for recognizing the importance of daily attendance at school and rewarding our students!

GISD Bond 2026

The Board of Trustees called a Nov. 3 bond election for $60 million to address facility needs identified and recommended by the Facility Planning Committee. The $60 million proposal includes construction of a new (grades 1-5) elementary school to replace Crestview and Woodland, as well as safety, security, accessibility and CTE projects at the remaining campuses. To keep our employees, families and Graham community informed, the district has launched a Bond2026 website.

GHS Processes

Email for Attendance Notes

Any note that you are submitting can be emailed to: ghsattendance@grahamisd.com. Parentsquare messages are accepted as well.

Attendance Notes

Parent notes are only accepted for 14 days after an absence has occurred. After that, they will not be accepted and the absence will stay unexcused. This only applies to parent notes, not notes from doctors. Doctors notes will be accepted at anytime during the year, but the sooner we get them the better.

Service Cord Information

Beginning with the Class of 2027, students will have the opportunity to earn a Community Service Cord to wear proudly at graduation!

This cord recognizes the dedication, leadership, and selflessness of our Steers and Lady Blues who actively work to make our community a better place.

To earn this honor, students must complete and submit the required hours. These hours can be earned throughout their entire 4 years at GHS, not just their senior year. Because this is a new initiative, we are phasing in the hour requirements:

Class of 2027 - 50 hours
Class of 2028 - 75 hours
Class of 2029 and Beyond - 100 hours

Students will complete a Volunteer Tracker Sheet which can be picked up in the counseling office, and return it to Mrs. Bazan, in the counseling office. She will track all students' hours. Because we are phasing this in, students will be allowed to claim any hours from January 2026 to now towards their Community Service Cord.

If students have questions, they can come see Mrs. Bazan in the counseling office.
