TSI Exam Information

What is the TSI?

The TSI is a college readiness exam required by state law before you can enroll in college level courses.  It tests your skills in Reading, Writing, and Math.

Am I exempt from the TSI?

ACT - At least a combined score of 40 from both English and Reading; 22 in Math

SAT - SAT: 530 on Math and 480 on EBRW (Evidenced Based Reading and Writing), no composite score. 

These rules are subject to change by the Texas Legislature.

How can I practice for the TSI?

There is practice online at this website or you can download these sample questions.  

How do I sign up and when is the test offered? 

You will sign up through a google form in your Class of 2024, Class of 2025 or Class of 2026 Google Classroom.

**If students are not able to make these dates, they can schedule to take the TSI at NCTC by calling 521-0720 to set up a TSI testing appointment.**

 

New Requirement:

Students will need to take a Pre Assessment Activity (PAA) BEFORE taking the TSIA2. Students will need to send Mrs. Collins the proof of PAA prior to sitting for their first time of taking the TSIA2.

To take the PAA and set up an account, students will need to go to the Accuplacer website

  1. Down towards the middle of the page there is a tab labeled Student Portal and has link to click titled, “Information for students.”
  2. Click the “Information for students” link.
  3. Then you will scroll down and click TSIA2 Practice Resources for Texas Students
  4. Scroll down and on the left hand side you will see a tab labeled Free PAA and Practice tests. Click the link below that says “Get Started”.
  5. Your student will then begin to create their account and take the PAA. A powerpoint with the steps will be shared in your students’ google classroom.
