Adam Anderson, Principal of Graham High School

Principal's Corner

Hello Parents,

Last week was busy! We had SAT testing for all Juniors, girls soccer had 2 playoff games, Advanced Academic Information meetings, we had a student compete at state for powerlifting, academic UIL, One Act Play, two sendoffs, and baseball, softball, tennis and track all competed! It was a busy week but I am proud of all of our students for how they handled themselves. I am also proud of our teachers and how flexible they were with everything that happened last week. Our teachers love these students and work around all of their activities and work late helping students catch up.

I want to first start off with athletics. Congratulations to our Lady Blues Soccer team on a great season. They were Bi-District and Area Champs. These young ladies competed hard in the post season in temperatures near 100 and then Friday night around 55. Congratulations to McCrae Reese for an amazing job representing Graham at the state powerlifting meet. He earned 10th place with a total weight of 1,575lbs! Huge thank you to Coach Weil and Coach Yowell for all their hard work working with our athletes!

Congratulations to One Act Play for competing at District this past week! Our students put on an amazing performance. Thank you to Kay Berru for all of her hard work working with our students.

Thank you to our entire community that showed up this past week at all of the different events. I truly appreciated seeing the support for both our student athletes and student actors this week.

This week has a few less meetings but I still want to invite you to look at the calendar and support our students at some major competitions. We have district golf in Abilene Monday and Tuesday, and band is going to UIL Competition. Additionally, baseball and softball will be playing at home this week. And please don't forget, no school on Friday.

Let's have another great week!

Respectfully,

Adam Anderson
Principal

Use of Personal Electronics

We are seeing an increase in use of students bringing their personal laptops to school and wanting to use them. State law and district policy state that students can not use their personal electronic device at school. Please help us by reminding your student that they need to leave their personal laptops and other personal electronics at home. Thank you for your support in this.

Feel free to look over this to see what is being discussed and share with friends and neighbors. This month we heard from Gallagher Construction about the estimated cost to repair vs estimated cost to build new buildings throughout the district. We also heard from the district's financial advisor about GISD's bonding capacity and general school finance. We then heard from Fine Arts, Transportation and Maintenance, and Safety and Security about the current state of their programs and any needs they have.
