Steers Family Newsletter

November 2, 2025
Adam Anderson, Principal of Graham High School

Principal's Corner

Hello Parents and Community,

I hope this message finds you well. I apologize for the tardiness of this email. I spent the weekend with my family and doing our final walk through on our home that we will be moving into this week. Due to that, this newsletter took a back seat. I will try to keep it shorter because of the later time.

This past week Mrs. Marin and the counselors held class meetings with all grade levels. Those slides will be sent out this week for parents to view as well.

Our Lady Blue Volleyball Team went to Sweetwater on Thursday and competed in Bi-District against Frenship Memorial. Our Lady Blues battled hard but we lost to Frenship. I am so proud of our young ladies and the way they battled. They played hard and showed what it means to not give up during all three sets. Please make sure to congratulate these young ladies and Coach Faulk for all their hard work and a great season.

This past week we also had the Fall Festival and Haunted House. Thank you to Key Club and STUCO for all their hard work in putting those on. We had a huge turn out from the community and our students represented GHS well.

As we begin November, I think about all I am grateful for, especially being a part of this community. I hope you take some time this week and make a list of all that you are grateful for. I have always been amazed how much I have been blessed with when I see it all written out. I look forward to another great week with our amazing students and incredible staff.

Respectfully,

Adam Anderson
Principal

Graham Safe Important Message

Drills

Last week we had a fire drill and our staff and students performed admirably. With a new month beginning, we will have another fire drill this month.

In response to student input from last year of wanting more Lockdown Drills, and at the recommendation of local law enforcement, we will be holding a second Lockdown Drill before the end of the semester. I will make sure to notify parents the week that we will be holding the drill. After the drill, we will notify parents as well so that you are aware that it occurred.

What's Happening at GHS...

Food Drive

Every year Graham High School Key Club sponsors a food drive to support the Food Pantry. The Food Pantry is used by many of our GISD families and this year has expressed concern about an increased demand for help this holiday season.

This year we will have a district wide food drive to benefit our local community. The food drive will run Monday, November 3rd - Monday, November 10th.

Donations will be given to the Food Pantry the afternoon of November 10th, so please make sure to bring your donation no later than the morning of the 10th. Every little bit helps and we want to support our community and GISD families this year that may be struggling.

Please see the attached flyer for information. We appreciate your generosity and support as we enter this Holiday Season.

Heart of Graham

Please see the attached flyer and consider supporting Heart of Graham. I hope to see all of you at the game on Friday to show support to the Tuggle family!

Veteran Information for Veterans Day Recognition

In preparation of recognizing our veterans at the Veterans Day Program on November 11th, we are gathering all information through a Google Form rather than at the door. Please complete and share this form with community members so that we can make sure to recognize every veteran for their service.

Be on the lookout later this week for the registration link if you plan on attending the Veterans Day Program at GHS.

Students-Enter Raffle for a Chance to Pie a Teacher/Administrator

Try your luck...pay a buck and enter your name in a raffle for a chance to pie a teacher or administer in the face! Four lucky names will be drawn. Choose a name from Mr. Anderson, Coach Barber, Mr. Gordy, or Mr. Kidd. The National Honor Society is selling chances for $1.00 each. You can buy as many chances as you want! A name will be drawn for each adult. The lucky winner will get to pie the teacher or administrator in the face at the pep rally on Friday!

NHS will be selling chances in the commons before and after school and in the cafeteria during A and B lunches! Don't miss out!

Once again, one lucky winner in each category will get to pie Mr. Anderson, Coach Barber, Mr. Gordy, or Mr. Kidd in the face at the pep rally! We don't know about you, but we can't wait!

Pep Rally

We are excited to welcome all of parents and community members to campus for our Senior Pep Rally! I have included the link here and QR code for your use. Here are the procedures for the pep rally on Friday:

  • On Pep Rally Day, Parents and Community Members who have pre-enrolled will enter through the gym doors and will receive their pre-printed badge.
  • If you did not enroll before Friday at 8am, you may enter through the gym doors and still must sign in.
  • Parents and Community Members will sit in the reserved area on the home side section closest to the gym doors. When the space fills, parents and community members will be directed to the upper section.

Signing Out Students

Please remember that only people on your student's emergency contact list are able to sign out your student. If they are not listed in Skyward, then we can not release your child to them. Please remind students that they are not able to sign themselves out. I am looking at improving part of our sign-out process based on feedback from parents and front office staff.

Yearbook Senior Ads

Dear Senior Parents:

We know you are so proud of your teen’s accomplishments. Tell them how great they are by purchasing a senior ad in the Graham High School yearbook.

Ads are available in a variety of sizes and prices that range in size from 1/4 page to a full page. This tribute might include pictures, a good luck message, congratulatory remark, etc. You may want to refer to a previous yearbook for an idea of what others have done. All ads must be received no later than January 6th, 2026.

Thanks for helping support the GHS yearbook staff, and don’t hesitate to call or e-mail mckenzie.shook@grahamisd.com if you have questions. The yearbook is scheduled to be delivered at the end of May.

Please see the attached Google Doc for additional information.
