Hello Parents and Community,
This week marks an important academic milestone: the three-week progress check. This is a critical point for our students involved in extracurricular activities. By the end of this week, students who are currently failing a class have the opportunity to regain UIL eligibility for competition by passing all of their courses. Please encourage your student to take advantage of any available tutoring or extra support offered by our teachers to ensure they meet this requirement.
Upcoming Events and School Activities
- Red Ribbon Week: This week, we will be participating in Red Ribbon Week, focusing on drug prevention and healthy choices. We've planned a variety of activities, including themed dress-up days for our students. Please check the full school newsletter for the specific daily dress-up schedule so your student can participate.
- Class Meetings: We will be holding our scheduled class meetings with students again this week. These meetings are an important tool for communication and planning. After the meetings are completed, the presentation slides will be posted for parents to view.
- FAFSA Night: A crucial event for our college-bound seniors is happening soon. We will be hosting FAFSA Night in the high school library on Thursday, October 27th, at 6:00 PM. This is a great opportunity to get hands-on help with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) process.
I want to recognize our dedicated teachers as they are committed to providing a rigorous and engaging educational experience. They are actively creating opportunities for student collaboration and ensuring that all instruction in the classroom is challenging and rigorous.
Finally, I am asking for your support. In the last week, we have seen an increase in cell phone use by students in the halls and in classrooms. Our teachers are actively reminding students to put them in their backpacks. Please remind your student that according to our district policy, cell phones are to be kept in the student's backpack and are not to be used during the school day. If your child needs to get in contact with you, they can come to the front office. Thank you for your help and support in this.
Respectfully,
Adam Anderson
