Adam Anderson, Principal of Graham High School

Principal's Corner

Hello Parents and Community,

I hope you are able to enjoy a relaxing and well-deserved Labor Day on Monday. I look forward to welcoming our students back refreshed and ready to learn on Tuesday.

What a great way to kick off the long weekend with our GHS Steers winning their football game on Friday night! The atmosphere was fantastic, and it's a testament to the hard work and dedication of our Blue Crew, cheerleaders, student-athletes and coaches. It was amazing to see such a large turn out from the community there in Midland cheering on our Graham Steers.

Progress Reports come out this week. As a reminder, this will not affect UIL eligibility. At the 6-week mark, students can lose or gain eligibility. I encourage you to continue to stay involved in your student's education. We know that parent partnerships is key to student success.

We will be having two drills this week, including a Lockdown Drill. Please make sure to check out the Graham Safe section for additional information.

Thank you for your continued support.

Respectfully,

Adam Anderson

Upcoming Drills

We will be holding two drills this week, Lockdown and Fire. The Fire Drill will be held on Thursday, September 4th.

The Lockdown Drill will be held on Wednesday, September 3rd. Our campus SRO has reached out to local law enforcement agencies and invited them to participate in the drill. Please do not be alarmed if you do see an increased law enforcement presence Wednesday morning on our campus. Before the drill begins, teachers will review with students what to do.

What's Happening at GHS...

ACT Test Information

Students and parents, we offer the ACT test at GHS during school once in fall and once in the spring. Our fall online administration will take place on Tuesday, September 30th. We are taking sign ups for the fall administration now through Wednesday, September 16th. The link for the students to sign up is in their google classroom. The cost is $39 cash or check (made out to GHS) due by Wednesday, September 24th. Online payments will be accepted soon and the link will be sent out as soon as it's up.

A senior who has NOT taken the ACT at GHS before, can get the fee waived by checking with the counseling office.

Beginning this spring we will offer the in school SAT, as well. This will provide additional opportunities for our students to take part in other college placement exams this school year.

Youth Lead Application

The YOUTH LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE was initiated in Spring 2017 between the Graham Independent School District and Graham Chamber of Commerce to provide meaningful activities/ training to students to encourage them to become community leaders of the future. GHS Juniors and Seniors are encouraged to apply for this program. All activities will occur on Fridays, most when school is out. The application is available here and is only open to students to fill out.

State Law Regarding Clubs

The 89th Texas Legislature passed SB12 which now requires the district to obtain written parental consent before a student may participate in a student club that is authorized or sponsored by the district.

Each club sponsor will either send out a Google Form or will send a paper version home with your student for you to sign and give your consent for your child to participate. These started going out last week.

Yearbook Senior Ads

Dear Senior Parents:

We know you are so proud of your teen’s accomplishments. Tell them how great they are by purchasing a senior ad in the Graham High School yearbook.

Ads are available in a variety of sizes and prices that range in size from 1/4 page to a full page. This tribute might include pictures, a good luck message, congratulatory remark, etc. You may want to refer to a previous yearbook for an idea of what others have done. All ads must be received no later than January 6th, 2026.

Thanks for helping support the GHS yearbook staff, and don’t hesitate to call or e-mail mckenzie.shook@grahamisd.com if you have questions. The yearbook is scheduled to be delivered at the end of May.

Please see the attached Google Doc for additional information.
