Principal's Corner

Hello Parents and Community Leaders,

What a fantastic week we've had! As we wrap up the first full week of school, I wanted to take a moment to share some of the positive momentum we're building.

Our students have shown a great attitude and a willingness to engage in the classroom and in all our campus activities. We held class meetings with every grade level to discuss campus rules and expectations, and the students were incredibly attentive and respectful. It is a true testament to the values you instill at home.

I am genuinely grateful for how well students have followed our campus expectations. Their cooperation makes our school a better and more productive environment for everyone. Our entire staff is so excited to have your students on campus, and we are looking forward to a successful and engaging school year.

I am already hearing positive effects of students having their cell phones and other personal communication devices put away in their backpacks. Students and teachers have both reported an increase in collaboration and participation in the classroom. The cafeteria is buzzing with conversations and some students are even playing card games with friends. It's wonderful to see the increase in face to face interactions and collaboration.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Adam Anderson
Principal, Graham High School

Graham Safe!

In an effort to be consistent and clear regarding safety on our campus, all drills/safety information will be kept under the section, Graham Safe!

On Thursday, August 21st, we had our first fire drill of the school year. I am happy to say that our students and staff did a great job on following the safety procedures and in using our emergency app, CrisisGo.

Our Lockdown Drill initially scheduled for August 26th has been moved and will be communicated out to parents, students, and staff next week.

General Information and Good Things on Campus

State Law Regarding Clubs

The 89th Texas Legislature passed SB12 which now requires the district to obtain written parental consent before a student may participate in a student club that is authorized or sponsored by the district.

Each club sponsor will either send out a Google Form or will send a paper version home with your student for you to sign and give your consent for your child to participate. Please expect those to start getting sent out this next week.

Yearbook Information

The 2025-2026 GHS yearbooks are now available to purchase online. The yearbooks will be sold at their lowest price of $80 until November 1st, 2025. All purchases can be made online at yearbookforever.com and the yearbooks will be distributed in May.

Please email Ms. Shook at mckenzie.shook@grahamisd.com with any questions. Thank you!

Bell Schedule Updated

The bell schedule was updated on the school website to reflect that Pep Rallies will be held after lunch instead of the end of the school day. This change allows volleyball to have the gym ready to play for their games at 4:00pm. I have included a link to the 25-26 GHS Bell Schedule for your convenience.

Pep Rally Schedule

I have had several parents and students reach out about when the pep rallies are, so I wanted to send them out now with their themes.

  • September 5th- Hawaiian/Beach Day
  • September 12th- Disney Day
  • September 26th- Pink Out
  • October 17th- Homecoming (Lights, Camera, Action)
  • November 7th- Neon/Sr. Night

Schedule Changes

We have seen an increase in schedule change requests from students asking for schedule changes due to feeling they don't learn as well from their current teacher, as they have a previous teacher. I just want to provide you with the campus process that we are sharing with students when they are requesting a schedule change. The schedule change process in this situation is:
  • A Parent-Teacher Conference to work together to come up with a solution to best help your student.
  • The student must attend 3 tutorials during WIN Time.
  • Then, a schedule change can be requested if no improvement is seen.
This is the same document I shared with you before school started, but I wanted to make sure you had easy access to it. This process is detailed on the bottom half of page 1. Here is the English version and the Spanish Version.
