Sara Carrico
I am a 2001 graduate of Graham High School! I then went on to college at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, but transferred to Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX. I graduated from HSU in December 2006 with a BS in Biology, and continued post-grad classes in education to obtain my teaching certification in May 2008.
I started teaching at GHS in August 2016 as the PLTW Biomedical Sciences teacher. This is my 8th year in the PLTW Biomed position, and I teach 9th – 12th graders interested in medical careers. My classes include Principles of Biomedical Sciences, Human Body Systems, Medical Interventions, and Biomedical Innovations.
I am currently a Principles of Biomedical Sciences and Human Body Systems Master Teacher with Project Lead the Way, where I get the opportunity to teach other educators. I spent 4 weeks this summer, virtually teaching other PLTW teachers from across the US to teach HBS at their schools.
I have been in education for 13 years now, and all of those have been spent at Graham ISD. I was fortunate enough to start teaching 8th Science at GJHS in the fall of 2010 and spent 6 years teaching at the Jr. High. During that time, I also taught 1 year of 6th Science (2014-2015) and 1 year of 7th Science (2015-2016) and had some amazing teaching partners.
