ACT/SAT and Other College Testing Information

On this site you will find information concerning the various college entrance exams, test prep sites, and other resources related to college testing.  This will include PSAT, ACT, SAT, TSI, STAAR, AP, and CLEP tests.

Wednesday, October 11th, 2017 is the date for the PSAT. All juniors will be registered for the test by the counseling office.  Juniors will take the test free, as well as the very top sophomore students.

 Cost is $15.00 for the PSAT.  Any 9th or 10th grader can pay the fee and take the PSAT.

Don't hesitate to sign up in the counselors office and help yourself be prepared to take it to the next level on college testing!  PSAT prep can be found here.

Deadline to sign up and pay for the PSAT is September 29, 2017.

Testing Dates   

 

ACT In-School Test

Graham High School will be giving the ACT test during the school day on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 to JUNIORS and SENIORS only. Students will sign up in the counseling office and will be blue slipped for the 4 hour duration of the test. Registration deadline is the end of the school day Sept. 16, 2016. See Mrs. Husen, Mrs. Iltis, or Mrs. Morris for more information.

We will be hosting another In-School ACT on Wednesday, April 19, 2017.  This administration will be offered to Juniors and Seniors.  Sign up deadline will be Wednesday, April 12, 2017.  Bring $58.50 to the counseling center to reserve your spot!

Security Enhancement and Registration Changes:

During registration:

Provide a current, recognizable photo (http:sat.collegeboard.org/register/photo-requirements).  This photo becomes part of the student's Admission Ticket.  Students in 8th grade and below are exempt from this requirement.

ON TEST DAY:

Be preregistered for the SAT and SAT Subject Tests.  Standby is no longer permitted.

Present their Admission Ticket and acceptable photo ID for entry to the test center.

Have an Admission Ticket that shows the Same test center, test date and test type.

Must have their Admission Ticket and photo ID ready for inspection at any time while in the test center.

We are moving to a Waitlisy system, students who miss the last registration deadline can Request a Waitlist Status (http://sat.collegeboard.org/register/how-to-#standby RegistrationHeader) through their online account until five (5) days before test day.

TSI (Texas Success Initiative) replaces the THEA

The TSI Assessment is a program designed to help determine if you are ready for college-level work in the general areas of reading, writing and mathematics. If you are an incoming college student in Texas, you are required to take the TSI Assement unless you are exempt based on set SAT, ACT or STAAR scores.  Click on the link below for an informational brochure:

STAAR Tests and 2016-17 Calendar
The STAAR program in high school includes annual End-of-course assessments for English I, English II,  Algebra I, biology and U.S history.

How would you like to get college credit for what you already know? The College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP) offers you the opportunity to earn qualifying scores on any of the 33 college subject examinations and accelerate your education.

One CLEP exam costs $80.
